My 2002 Elantra GT kept going to an idle from time to time then was fine. Eventually the fuel pump relay stopped working, it was fried! They swapped it out 6 times and I kept telling them the pump was overheating it, but they said no! Eventually the relay and the fuse box and related wiring started to burn. Finally they replaced the pump, relay, fuse box and the wiring, under warranty!

That's great for a shop or even a shop tech. But for the average dude that's $50/yr for something that might not be used for years on end. I hate that manufacturers are locking people out of diagnosing/repairing or even simply maintaining their own vehicles. How long before you need a scumbag dealer to unlock your wheels so you can swap out a flat tire?

I had a Ford Probe which had a very obvious problem. There was a noise in the suspension when you turn the wheel to the right. The dealer called and said they could not duplicate. I told them that it was extremely obvious and if the mechanic couldn't duplicate, he should be fired. They found the problem.

How tf do you work cars with cat claws like that?

Same philosophy I have for my job. I'll order extra parts on a job that ove diagnosed because I know that sometimes things can still go wrong after the original repair.

Small question. Does the motor help in terms of break power or are they electric. Most of not all the work I've ever done in cars is on 2005 or older so I haven't come across this before.

The dealership did not do the recall, they avoid free warranty work. You cant do a recall job and not see the wiring in that condition

Remove two 5mm screws holding motor to caliper use torx bit to turn piston leed screw clockwise while pushing piston in reinstall motor. No scan tool needed 😊

Kias are trash. I inherited a 2016 sportage when my dad passed. He was the most fastidious person i know when it came to car maintenance and i think that's the only thing that kept that car alive.

Charge them for all of the repairs. Sometimes you have to fix one thing to identify the next.

If I was gonna manufacture a car, I would go all the way back to bare bones, no computer, no electronics, and a carburetor. After decades of endless frustration, I think the market would be huge.
